Make sure all devices involved are fully backed up before experimenting with OTG connections as there are reports of people losing data from the device being connected when the connection fails, especially with devices that are slow to connect.

  1. Select Settings -> Device Connection -> USB Connectivity

  2. Connect the USB device using an OTG cable

  3. Select Detect USB Device

Sony backups on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) appear to be maintained under sd-card/Android/data/SonyBnR
