Planning

Planning mode (introduced in TripLogger 1.12.0) is accessed from the map page edit button (square with pencil) on all devices other than the watch. After pressing the edit button, the toolbar expands to show the planning options.

To temporarily exit planning mode, press the pause button. Return to planning mode again with the edit button. By pausing the planning mode you are able to move the map etc. without interfering with the plan. To abandon planning mode, use the navigation button to return to the previous page.

The following additional options are available in the toolbar in planning mode:

  1. Place a waypoint (map pin with ellipse circle)

  2. Delete route points and waypoints (trash can/waste bin)

  3. Undo (backward uturn arrow)

  4. Wipe (windshield/windscreen wiper)

  5. Save (square with down arrow)

Elevation Data

See Elevation Data regarding including elevation (altitude) data in routes created with TripLogger. Without elevation data the app is unable to add elevation information to routes. Consequently no estimates are given for route calculations, which are normally meaningless without elevation information for each point.

The first tap on the map starts creating a route, showing a Trail head waypoint. Thereafter, further taps add points, creating a new route legs.

Dragging near route points moves the route point.

Dragging near legs inserts a new route point which can then be dragged to the desired location.

To place a waypoint, press the waypoint button, then press on the map to place it. Once placed the waypoint cannot be moved.

Pressing the delete button toggles the delete mode. Whilst in delete mode the delete button is highlighted and clicking on route points or waypoints removes them.

Current Route Waypoints

The waypoints of currrent routes cannot be deleted in planning mode. See the Waypoints documentation for how to delete or modify existing waypoints.

Pressing the save button save the route. If there is a currently selected route, it is added to the same GPX file with a name based on the GPX filename. If the route was being modified using the Edit Path option from the routes page, it is saved as a new route with a name based on the name of the route selected for edit. Otherwise a new untitled GPX file is created. The GPX file or route name can be modified on the Modify GPX names page. See the documentation for the routes page for details.
